While Storm Combat has a beautiful combat gym in Kya Rock, unfortunately due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, face to face training is not possible at present.  This has not halted our progress, however.  We continue with our focused training online.

Carefully structured, highly detailed video lessons and demonstrations will be sent to you each week.

They are designed to enable you to understand,  drill and master each technique until it becomes completely automatic, can be produced at speed,  with accuracy and devastating effect.

Muscle memory is essential.  Under the huge adrenaline dump and raw fear associated with a real attack, your performance will drop to the lowest level of your training.  It is therefore essential that the lowest level of your training reflect a high level of skill, power and technique  which is hard-wired into your reflexes.

Training with a partner at home is encouraged. If you have no option but to train alone, the work has been adapted for solo execution wherever possible.

Israeli Krav Maga, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Filipino Martial Arts

All three styles taught by Storm Combat were developed for self-defence. They focus on three important areas: general self-defensegrappling and weapons training.

Every Storm Combat student is trained in ALL THREE disciplines, as standard procedure.

Krav Maga is a military self-defence and fighting system used by elite special forces and law enforcement agencies around the world.  It is quick and easy to learn and highly effective.  It is designed so that a weaker, smaller defender can defeat a larger, stronger, more powerful attacker, using leverage, technique and timing.

Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) focuses on weapons training. It considered to be the most advanced practical modern blade system in the world and is now a core component of the U.S. Army's Modern Army Combatives program.  It is also currently used by the Russian Spetsnaz (special forces) along with other training systems.  If you have to draw a bladed weapon as a last resort in self-defence, you need to know how to fight with it - or it may be turned against you.

We teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (minus the rules).  The focus is on ground-fighting.  We do not advocate taking the fight to the ground, as attackers are often accompanied by accomplices who could easily stab you while you are defending yourself in a ground fight.  However, if a fight does end up on the ground (and many do) it is critical to know how to defend yourself, and get back up onto your feet as quickly as possible.  We teach an unorthodox version of BJJ (basically dirty BJJ - no rules).  This training is one more weapon in your bag of martial arts knowledge for self-defence.  Widely taught to the special forces and elite military units, it's value is that a smaller defender can use leverage to beat a larger, heavier attacker in a ground fight.
