Kids Krav Maga / Boxing and BJJ
Kids Krav Maga is designed for students under the age of 13 years. Our young warriors learn a very effective, realistic, street-wise and age-appropriate form of self-defence.
Classes are available for 4 - 6 year olds and for 7 - 11 year olds.
In addition to these classes Boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are also available for children in the same age groups.
Kids Krav Maga, Boxing and BJJ also offers benefits beyond the expected. Not only are our young students trained in enormously powerful Krav Maga techniques, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Boxing, our Kids programme also builds confidence, co-ordination, fitness and strength.
It further contributes to an increase in concentration ability, fast reactions, active listening and the ability to follow instructions quickly, the ability to work well with others in a team, the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, the ability to accept correction, the ability to use one’s initiative, creativity and resourcefulness, honing critical thinking and reasoning skills, being adaptable to changing situations.
Young students learn respectfulness, humility, and optimism, the value of integrity, commitment, perseverance and consistency.
The Kids programme teaches responsible, self-disciplined, but decisive self-defence. Violence is not encouraged. Peaceful conflict resolution and self-restraint is taught. However, when faced with no choice but to defend oneself, children are taught to do so decisively, swiftly and appropriately.
The programme also improves confidence, self-esteem, and assertiveness. Not only are they taught to handle the school bully, but also receive awareness and response training in terms of child-trafficking, abduction, predators and hijacking. Learning to deal with these possibilities without fear, in a calm manner borne of training and knowledge, can save a life.
In my experience of training children of all ages, Kids Krav has proved to be very therapeutic for children who are dealing with depression, anxiety, loss, isolation, lack of friends, ADD, ADHD, anger and/or expressing aggression in an inappropriate manner.
These young students have discovered a new-found confidence, a new joy, a new way of being appreciated, a new way of excelling, a new way of contributing to the progress of others by sharing their knowledge and skills, a healthy and positive outlet for negative emotions and personal struggles. They become part of a family, part of a team that always has each other’s backs.
And they become fitter, stronger and happier in the process!
